Heroes Into Homes is a non-profit charitable organization focused on lifting our military veterans to a new level. We provide direction, purpose, basic needs and resources to further their future and improve their quality of life.
Heroes Into Homes is a 501C3 nonprofit Veteran service organization that helps homeless Veterans into homes. Working directly with the VA and VA HUD/VASH ( https://www.va.gov/homeless/hud-vash.asp ) counselors in Lincoln Nebraska in a coordinated effort between many other organizations, Heroes Into Homes has a goal to supply new and gently used furnishings and everything needed to turn an empty apartment into a home in the new 70 room apartment complex at the VA campus. Heroes Into Homes needs your help to accomplish this enormous task. We are asking the general public and corporations to get involved in any way you can. If you have ever said or thought there should be no homeless Veterans this is a way you can help us help them. To make a donation you can click the "Donate Now" button or fill out the form below to send an email or call the number at the bottom of this page for more information. With your help we can all work together to end Veteran homelessness.
Over the weekend we had a very good turn out of volunteers. Thank you to everybody that helped at Victory Park and behind the scenes. We are not totally finished yet as we still have kitchen tables and chairs on order from Nebraska Furniture Mart. We thought they would be in today but due to weather conditions they did not come in yet. Maybe tomorrow. When they do we will get them all to Victory as soon as we can and start putting them together.
The pantry we have been operating out of at Victory Park is actually their maintenance room. Therefore that is not available to use as a pantry for an ongoing mission. We are working with Victory Park management on a solution as everybody involved feels some kind of pantry for food and consumables is needed. There have been several groups and a lot of volunteers that want to keep a pantry stocked and operated.
This coming weekend 01/27th-28th we will be finalizing everything and moving the excess stuff into storage to be used for the ongoing mission.
Thank you all for your continued support !
Over the long weekend the HIH crew was very productive at Victory Park. Notice the "Still Needed " section at the bottom of the this page is much smaller. What is still needed the most are volunteers to help set up apartments. Every apartment has a bed set up and the basics are either staged in them or in the pantry as 'kits" ready to go into apartments. When we set up apartments we like to wash all the dishes, put them away, make beds , dust, ect, as if you were going to live there yourself. We will be there working this evening 1/16 from 4pm until 9 or10, Thursday 4pm -9 or 10, Friday 4pm-9or 10, Saturday 1pm - 9 Sunday 1pm - 9.
With enough help it is possible to have all 70 apartments pretty much completed except a few big items that we can keep working on.
Ild like to see a good volunteer turn out the rest of the week for this final push .
Thank you !
It seems like forever ago we began this mission but it has only been a little over a month since Victory Park Opened Dec 2nd.
I am happy to announce,. As of yesterday 01/03-2018, 40 formerly homeless Veterans are now living a much better life at Victory Park apartments. By the end of January 8 more will be moving in. ( maybe more than 8).
Not everybody has a couch or dinning room table yet but everybody has a comfortable bed, some dishes, some food, and basic necessities. We have begun buying good used furniture and new kitchen items as needed. We are still working hard every evening after work 4pm to 10 or 11pm and weekends to try to stay ahead of the move in rate. We sure could use some help picking up furniture, moving it in, and setting up apartments. If you can volunteer please call Cory at 402-217-1101.
Thank you all for your generous donations and your time! You all have no idea the impact we are making. I have had grown men hug me with tears in their eyes because we gave them a dresser or a couch. To us its just stuff, to them it is showing people really do care and love them. To them it is everything!
Please check this website before bringing anything to us. We are getting way to many of some things but not enough of others things.
Also we have been receiving some stuff that is less than fair condition. WE WILL NOT USE IT!
IF IT WON'T GO IN MY HOME IT WON'T GO IN THEIRS!
Stained bath mats with the rubber backing coming off is an example. YUCK! Ripped, stained old blankets . Gross! Any furniture from a smokers house or that smells like cat or dog urine . We will not take.
NEW or GENTLY used only!
DO NOT DROP ANYTHING OFF AT VICTORY PARK APARTMENTS WITHOUT HEROES INTO HOMES BEING THERE. YOU MUST CHECK WITH US FIRST TO FIND OUT WHAT DAYS AND TIMES WE WILL BE THERE. The apartment manager will turn you away and tell you to contact us. They are far to busy to deal with an influx of donations during regular business hours. Thank you all for your understanding and continued support.
ALL BEDS AND BED FRAMES HAVE BEEN PURCHASED NEW FROM NEBRASKA FURNITURE MART. A HUGE THANK YOU TO THEM FOR WORKING WITH US ON A GREAT PRICE !

VFW POST 4626 Presented Heroes Into Homes with a $20,000 donation. They have challenged all other VFW's to meet it or beat it. THANK YOU VFW POST 4626. The majority of this money will be used to purchase the remainder of the beds, bedding and pillows.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
It is truly an honor to be part of this community. The outpouring of love and support on this mission is beyond outstanding! YOU, our members of this community, are making a tremendous difference in the lives of everyone involved.....veterans, volunteers, and donors. WE are ALL making a difference and changing lives; letting those in need know that there really is someone out there who cares. We wish everyone could see what we see, hear what we hear!!! It really is AMAZING!!
The move in December 2nd was a huge success!! Thanks to this fantastic community, you all knocked in out of the park! Our Veterans received way more than we had ever dreamed of. The mission is far form complete but right now we have stuff in 3 staging rooms at Victory Park. This week we will be organizing all of the extra stuff taking, inventory, and figuring out what is still needed. Once we get all of that done we will put a list back up. We cant thank you all enough for your overwhelming support.
Yes we will pick up furniture items around the Lincoln area. Please send am email or call Cory at 402-217-1101 and leave a message.
Please be patient sometimes it takes a few days to get you scheduled.
Yes you can drop stuff off at Victory Park Apartments But ONLY when Heroes Into Homes Staff is there. Call to find out what days and times we will be there as that changes.
